a. Man driving a train. He is wearing a peaked cap and sitting on a stool. The train has three wheels and is just an engine puffing smoke. The lino is glued to a block of wood which has an arrow in the top left hand corner pointing upwards. b. Monkey with a cap on. It is half standing and has its hands stretched out in front and tail up at the back. It is wearing a shirt but no trousers are visible. The lino is glued to a block of wood. This lino cut has a border cut around the edge. c. Animal, possibly a pig, sailing a small yacht. The yacht has two sails and a flag above. The animal is sitting in the stern and looks relaxed. Waves are visible below the boat. It is also glued to a block of wood. d. Dutch boy and girl skating hand in hand. There is a windmill and two trees in the background. They are both carrying bags. The girl is wearing a dress and Dutch hat, the boy has baggy trousers a shirt which buttons at the side and a hat and scarf. It is also mounted on a block of wood. e. Large lino cut of a camel. It is standing and is viewed from the side. The hump is emphasised, perhaps there is something sitting on it. The lino is glued to a block of wood. In the top left hand corner of this is an arrow pointing across and one pointing down. f. Man with hands spread out to the side, with a girl on his left side and a boy on the right. The children are facing towards the right of the picture. The girl is wearing a dress and there are five buttons visible on the mans shirt. There is a border around the picture. This is the only lino cut not mounted on wood. The toys were used by Miss Frances Rogers. Miss Rogers, born on 19 Oct 1904, went to Teacher's College in 1930 and joined the Education Department of W.A. in 1934. Between 1934 and her retirement in 1967, she taught at various country schools, took special classes for deaf and dumb children in Mosman Park, and classes for mentally and physically disabled children in Leederville. She also made and purchased a large collection of puppets which were used as teaching aids. These are accessioned under numbers H88/613 to H89/307 (not inclusive).
