Each has a picture, the name of which has a phonetic vowel sound to be matched with a different picture on the large sheet but which has the same sound. There are 60 yellow cards. b. Green sheet of six pictures, each with the vowel sound to be matched printed at the bottom left corner of the picture. There are 10 green cards. c. Box. Cardboard with paper label pasted over lid. Information on lid includes 'A Dolch PHONETICS GAME', 'Vowel Lotto / IN THE PHONICS GAME SERIES', 'COPYRIGHT 1956' 'helps children HEAR vowels and vowel combinations'. d. Directions for playing game. Six page pamphlet. e. Key which lists which words match together. The toys were used by Miss Frances Rogers. Miss Rogers, born on 19 Oct 1904, went to Teacher's College in 1930 and joined the Education Department of W.A. in 1934. Between 1934 and her retirement in 1967, she taught at various country schools, took special classes for deaf and dumb children in Mosman Park, and classes for mentally and physically disabled children in Leederville. She also made and purchased a large collection of puppets which were used as teaching aids. These are accessioned under numbers H88/613 to H89/307 (not inclusive).
