SAUCER

CH1981.450.c

'London' shaped cups with fairly deep saucer, no well. Painted with bands of stylized foliage in salmon pink, blue and gilt. Inside and outside of cups patterned. Black pit marks in base of coffee cup and saucer. No marks except for painted pattern number '2 \ 40'. Coalport used fractional pattern numbers over '2' and this number would fit in the period that this shape was being commonly used. However the slope of the handle seems to be slightly different to those illustrated in Godden Coalport and Coalbrookdale Porcelains plates 61.64.69,73. See also page 130 for dates o pattern numbers.
