Red velvet. Deep "V" neckline, high collar in same fabric and lined inside with ruched lace. Buttons down front with seven buttons (missing). Sleeves come to just below the elbow and are slightly gathered at the shoulder. "V" shaped at waist front a a narrow basque at back. Bodice cut in eight sections, six at the back, and heavily boned. 11 bones with metal stiffening down the centre front. Black lace and a wine coloured velvet beaded trim decorate the front panel. Velvet beaded trim also at back of colla and at sleeve cuffs. The latter also has a lace frill. Ties fastened inside at centre back. Lined with a silk corded cotton?. "CLAUDE/56 DAVIES ST BERKELEY SQUARE " on tape.
