VASE, Small, Chinese, three cockerels

"...white ground decorated in blue & neutral tint with fighting cocks. Silver collar & top of old Dutch workmanship added later. Of fine quality." Also some red in colouring. Three cocks & floral pattern. Borders of blue around base & rim (partly obscured by collar). Top comes to a sharp point. Hallmarks on silver: initials indecipherable, other mark resembles no. 7456, silver standard for the Netherlands (Wyler 1969: 384 & 391 resp.). Purchased from Hyam & Co., 16 March 1918, for 2 pounds. See xerox of receipt attached to data sheet. Ann Roberts: An underglaze-blue and copper-red decorated vase of slender shouldered form, painted with three cockerel beside rocks and and flowering plants, the details picked out in red, between splashed splashed borders, neck reduced, Kangxi, silver mount and cover.
