VASE with Wood Cover

"Ming Porcelain Jar decorated with figure of "Warriors & Landcsape in brilliant enamels under the glaze. Carved ebony stand & cover. Ming Period 1368-1644 A.D." Bought of Sparks, Junior." Blues & reds underglaze, greens & blacks overglaze. Blue 'crackle' border on top of body of vase. Five warriors, gentleman in black and messenger followed by yellow horse. Purchased from John Sparks, Manchester Square, London, 6 July 1917 for 10. See copy of receipt attached to data sheet. Ann Roberts: A polychrome vase of baluster form, thickly potted and decorated with a continuous scene depicting a standard bearer approaching a dignitary flanked by warriors standing before a canopied pavilion, a horse a little way behind, all in a garden landscape, 17th Century, wood cover.
