Scalloped edge. Row of moulded dots along edge. Scene of girl in "mediaeval" dress picking apples (?) by a fence with a goat by her side. Churc spire in background. Red, yellow and green over the glaze. Mark on base in under-glaze black: "MILTON SHAPE \ (lozenge registration mark for 7 Feb. 1877) W.B. & SON \ MEDIAEVAL \ BROWNFIELD & SON \ (two interlocking globes of the world) \ TRADE MARK" Lozenge mark also impressed. White glaze. Nairn no. 73. Mark used in period 1871-91. Ref. Godden, Encyclopaedia, (1964), page 110, no. 666.
