Vergulde Draeck (Gilt Dragon)

Fragments, poorly preserved timber. Sacrificial planking and one fragment of oak hull planking. So worn that there are hardly any diagnostic features remaining. Some fragments have nail holes of sheathing nails, square in section.

Vergulde Draeck (Gilt Dragon)

The Vergulde Draeck (Gilt Dragon) sailed from Texel bound for Batavia (Jakarta), under Pieter Albertsz carrying trade goods and eight chests of silver to the value of 78,6000 guilders. On 28 April 1656 the Vergulde Draeck was wrecked just south of Ledge Point. 75 of the 193 made it to shore.
