PLATE

CH1984.358

Deep plate with wavy rim. Rim of blue & white with red & gilt. Bowl decorated in famille verte palette with dozens of male figures, sage seated at table in right foreground with deer at his feet & three boys close around him. Reverse of rim decorated with four symbols. Three blue circles outside stand, one inside. The sage in the design could be Daruma: the design could be a rendition of a Chinese mythological scene. (G. Trotter 12 June 1985).
