PLANE, Jack
H1989.213
Wooden jack plane with closed handle and double iron. It is very plain and bears no manufacturers marks, may have been home made. The handle is better finished and was made separately. It has a cast steel double iron with brass nut. The parallel iron is marked `W F' with two large symbols. The cap iron is stamped `ATKIN & SONS / CAST STEEL' with a symbol in between. The iron is held in place with a wooden wedge. A thin piece of timber of the same type has been nailed in front of the mouth of the plane. It does not appear to have been boxed in place.
