PLANE, Smoothing

Wooden smoothing plane with steel faced sole. Double iron type. Used to put final finish on work. Coffin shaped body with steel sole plate held on from top by slotted screw. Cutter is marked 'ALEX MATHIESON & SON/ WARRANTED/ (star and crescent moon logo)/ CAST STEEL'.
Iron wedge is marked 'JOHN MOSELEY & SON/ SOLID STEEL'. Cutter is 5-8cm wide.
