TELETYPE MACHINE *DE-ACCESSIONED*

H1993.214

Teletype machine coloured dark brown and cream with keyboard of standard lettering and dual functions. Has buttons marked 'PAPER ADVANCE' and a row of six on far right, the red marked 'OFF' and the green 'LOCAL'. Logo on left is a stylised 'T' with 'TELETYPE' printed above. Has side switches marked 'START / STEP / ON / STOP / FREE / READER'. Chrome bar on front reads 'TELETYPE'. Lift up top has perspex covers providing access for paper and ribbon insertion. Unit is attached to a stand like a small table with multicoloured wires connected through plates on reverse read: 'Rd. 1971 / TELETYPE CORPORATION' and 'C.S.A.' in logo, 'LR2412'. Another carries a warning to disconnect power before replacing fuses. Old teletype predating the ASR 33 model. Used at U.W.A. in Electron Microscopy Department for control system synchlortron (linear accelerator research).
