TABLECLOTH

H1989.821

Born in 1888, Mr Stephens moved to Kalgoorlie with his family in 1902. He later began working in a barber's shop (with living quarters) at 13 Hannan Street. He eventually bought the shop, where he lived and continued to practise his trade. He never married, nor did he ever go prospecting. In 1987 the premises were demolished to make way for the new Museum of the Goldfields; Mr Stephens had moved to the Kalgoorlie Nursing Home by this time. Most personal effects from his house were accessioned into the collection at this time. Cream-beige cloth with 3cm of fringeing. Has woven pattern in relief, ie has reverse and obverse.
