Four rectangular cream-coloured glazed tiles, each with photographs of Turkish World War I war memorials at Gallipoli, Australian and Turkish flags and printed verse in Turkish and English language, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, dated 25 April 1995. The tiles are said to have been made from sand from the beach at Anzac Cove.
[.1] tile 1 has a rectangular colour photograph of the Cannakkale Martyrs' Memorial (Canakkale Sehitleri Aniti) dedicated to the Turkish soldiers who participated at the Gallipoli Campaign in 1915 at top centre with Turkish flag depicted below followed by text in Turkish and then English of the famous Attaturk quote about Australian men having died at Canakkale (Gallipoli) and buried on Turkish land now being their sons as well. The tile bears the signatures of Attaturk from 1915 and Suleyman Demirel Turkish President from 1995, production marks on the back 'TS202 0002 MADE IN TURKEY';
[.2] tile 2 has a black and white photograph of the Lone Pine Memiorial at Gallipoli with the Australian andTurkish flags below followed by written verse in Turkish and English indicatingthat the tiles were given in remembrance of those Australian soldiers who lost their lives there in 1915, production marks on back '737 TS202 KS/MADE IN TURKIYE';
[.3] tile 3 has the red Turkish flag top centre atop a black circle with a black and white image of the Cannakkale Martyrs' Memorial (Canakkale Sehitleri Aniti) inside and a blue outline map of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Verse printed in black written in Turkish and then English with a statement from the governor saying that he upholds the ideals of Attaturk 'PEACE AT HOME, PEACE IN THE WORLD' and hopes this presentation will improve the friendship between Turkey and Australia, Husnu TUGLU, Governor of Canakkale; production marks on back of tile '993 TS202 KS/MADE IN TURKIYE';
[.4] tile 4 has a rectangular colour photograph possibly of S. Demirel the President of The Republic of Turkey, with a quote from him below written in black print in Turkish and then English stating that the event emphasized the importance of peace for mankind, signed Suleyman DEMIREL/T.C. Cumhurbaskani/President of The Republic of Turkey', production markings on back 'TS 202 306/KS/MADE IN TURKIYE'.
