English Sunderland handpainted lustre bowl with verses and inscriptions of 'The Sailor's Farewell' and motives of sailors and seamen. Transfer designs.
'Splash' lusture decoration. Design part printed in under glaze, black, finished with over glaze enamels. Usual print of Wearmouth bridge. Unmarked, but form of print, information & lustre splashes match a mug illustrated in Godden by Scott & Sons, Southwick, dated 1829-41.
