LETTER, cigarette packet, Gallipoli, Walter Henry Dunlop, AIF, 1915.

H2014.33

Opened out cigarette packet used to write a letter, encased between two glass panes. On reverse side, additional piece of paper with typed transcription of the letter contents.
The letter and a typed transcript of its contents are together back to back encased in glass.
Transcription written on back and one side flap of cigarette packet reads:
"Gallipoli Pensular (sic)/July 10th, 1915/Dear Sid/Just a few lines/to let you know I am quite/well + in good health hoping/these few lines find you +/all the same. Well Sid I have/not had any letters from you for a long time + I have not/seen or heard of Harry B. /since the first day we landed./There is a lot of Gton/boys here now. Jack Bishop/is here and Tom Taylor and/Sid I must close/now hoping to here (sic)/from you soon. I/will close with/kindest regards to/all. I remain your/cobber W. Dunlop."

Note on other flap of packet reads: "I have not struck/that German/helmet."
