Sick call outfit cabinet and contents for Priests.
[.1] Rectangula, medium brown, varnished, quarter-sawed oak cabinet with dovetailed corners. Underside is unvarnished. Lid decorated with tarnished gold-plated ornamental cross in centre and two cornerpieces, at front right and back left. Other two cornerpieces are detached, and are loose in box. Interior lined with purple satin glued to cardboard. Tarnished brass(?) hinges on back, clasp on front, and fittings inside lid to secure crucifix and candelabra to lid. Interior lid lined with paler purple satin(?). Interior bottom features a raised circular cardboard wall beneath satin to hold the stand. Cotton braid holding straps on sides of interior.
[.2] - [.6] All made from tarnished, silver-plated Brittania metal(?).
[.2] Three piece crucifix and candelabra linked with brass(?) fittings. circular, hollow, three tiered stand. Makers mark stamped on middle tier of the base: 'HOMAN SILVER PLATE CO./(anchor and chain)/QUADRUPLE PLATED' and 'PATENTED/NOV.17.96/SICK CALL OUTFIT (cross).' Adjacent is stamped motif of a crossed hammer and smelting pot(?) containing the letter 'H' and 'SPECIAL METAL'. Candelabra is small, with a stem surmounded by two braches with a decorative floral design on the handle. Decorative stained candle holders with grease pans on ends of branches. Tarnished gold(?) plated shell shaped bowl at front below junction of branches. Crucifix has separately moulded Jesus on the cross figure soldered on, surmounted by a scroll marked 'INRI', with a Celtic(?) cross with floral design on the branches. Has ornamental ends, and blunt arrow head shaped bottom.
[.3] Holy water sprinkle with oval shaped handle leading to ridged neck and tulip shaped end. Brush of black, brown, and blonde andimal hair(?) bristles.
[.4] Spoon cup with egg shaped gold lined(?) interior, flattened at bottom with unidentified patterns of small dents. Underside contains manufacturers stamps, as in [.2] except patent date reads 'Pat'd April '97'. Bent handle, plain cross motif, with a grapevine and wheat stalk either side meeting together in a bow knot.
[.5] - [.6] Two circular plates with rim bordered by oak and laurel plant motif. Marked in centre with 'IHS'. Underside contains manufacturers stamps as in [.2]. Corrosion partly obscuring patent date. Ornamental edges.
[.7] -[.8] Two small, thin, yellow-white bees wax(?) candles with pointed end. Doesn't fit candleabra handle well, possibly not original.
[.9] -[.10] Two medium sized, square, white, linen(?) communion cloth napkins with machine stitched hems.
[.11] Medium sized white rolled cotton wool bundle. Rectangular when unrolled with an uneven end that is not visible when rolled.
