Dark blue cardboard box of Lux. In white, 'LUX' with a pattern of flakes and in red rectangle: 'SO SAFE/ YOU'LL WANT/ TO USE IT ALWAYS'. On the reverse: 'LUX/ MEANS SUCH SAFE WASHING/ THE LUX METHOD/ FOR ALL FINE WASHABLES'. Instructions recommend 2 tablespoons of Lux to a gallon of lukewarm water and gentle squeezing of garment. Never soak or rub. There are seperate instructions for 'STOCKINGS/ COLOURED FABRICS/ WOOLLENS/ FOUNDATION GARMENTS/ BLANKETS/ BABIES NAPKINS/ WASHING MACHINES'. Within a red circle at centre of pack: 'BEAUTY/ BATH/ A SPRINKLE OF/ LUX ADDS LUXURY/ TO YOUR DAILY/ BATH'. At base of packet is an illustration of 3 women holding seperate garments and 'MAKES STOCKINGS/ LAST TWICE AS LONG/ COLOURS STAY NEW-LOOKING/ 3 TIMES LONGER/ FOR KNITTEDS, WOOLLENS./ BABY WEAR, BLANKETS'. Beneath row of illustrated bubbles: 'LEVER BROTHERS PTY. LIMITED, SYDNEY-8 OZ. NET WHEN PACKED'. On one narrow side there is a woman and dishes, and the other, a woman in underwear putting on a garment. Each end reads 'LUX' and on one side there is a perforated section with 'PRESS/ THUMB/ HERE'. At no point are the contents referred to as flakes. The box is unopened.
