Dress, black polyester jacquard knit, strapless short style with silver metallic 'bubble' feature, designed by 'Ruth Tarvydas', Perth, Western Australia, c1987.
H2018.159
This evening dress is made from black polyester jacquard knit fabric. It is strapless, short and fitted.
The fabric is gathered using four strips of rigid, metallic, silver nylon sewn onto the reverse of the fabric.
At seven regular points the polyester has been slit, with the metalic fabric pulled through and re-sewn
to create a fold. The dress features one off-the-shoulder arm piece made from the metallic fabric
and black, synthetic netting, which has been described by the designer as a 'bubble'.
