PETTICOAT, half

Purchased on 10 Nov 1979, lot 173. White lawn. Very full skirt, gathered by hand stroking onto narrow tape waist band. 4 frills of broderie anglaise across centre skirt and frill on either side lengthways. Broderie anglaise hand worked and attached with father stitch. Feather stitch repeated around hem. All hand sewn. May have been cut down from a christening robe or similar and used 1850's ca - 1860's? as a skirt or petticoat.
