BODICE 1890s early

CH1972.177

Evening bodice of rich yellow silk satin; low, wide necklin tightly shaped with 11 bones; deep v-point at front; densely embroidered with fine motif of flowers and bows on branches, picked out with tiny beads, sequins and "pearls"; waist encircled with broad cummerbund of mushroom silk velvet, ruched and set with rosettes of same; huge but very short puffed sleeves; lined with cream silk twill; internal ribbon belt stamped "Art et Mode/93 Montagne de la Cour/BRUXELLES"; back closure wit eyelets and lacing.

Butterscotch silk satin bodice, beautifully embroidered with beads and true-loves (???) knots. Trimmed with (indecipherable) velvet.
