"Pair old Spode Spill vases (one damaged) with decoration in imitation of Oriental design. About 1790 A.D." Curl work border at top with various symbolic objects in reserves. Body decorated with peonies etc. Base gold. Pattern gilded (more heavily than Chinese style). Colours: ferric red, pink, blue, green & gold. a. has BADA sticker and is marked on base: "SPODE \ 868". b. has no marks. Ref: Godden page 589, number 3648b.
