WATERCOLOUR, framed, ‘Alverstoke/The house of the Rev. Francis Clifton’

Sepia watercolour of a two storied Georgian home with two chimney stacks, amongst a treed garden with a lawn out front. An ivory mount surrounds the painting with a narrow, simple, unpainted wooden frame. The back of the picture is covered with brown paper. 'Alverstoke/The house of the Rev.Francis Clifton/B.1755.D.1811/Retired here after serving as a Naval Chaplain/My great, great Grandfather' is handwritten in ink on the bottom. The frame nails protrude through the paper and discolour it. A tag is attached with string to one two eye-rings 'Mrs E. P Wright./For Spain/3-10-68' is written on it in pencil
