Date of interment – 13 June 1956. 'A B Clifton" and 'A W Clifton' written in ink opn the cover

[.2] NEWSPAPER ARTICLE ‘Death of Mr Arthur Benjamin Clifton’ and details of his teaching career. He taught at Hilton College and founded the Talana School in Dundee. Also a keen marksman.

[.10] LETTER, air mail letter to Miss S. A. Hassell, '44 Cresswell Place/ London SW10' from F. B. Dilley, 15 Jan 1957. Regarding the funeral of Alvared Clifton (Cliffy), the attendees and number of wreaths, including one from Sophy which he organised, at the cost of one pound, one shilling.

[.12 & .15.4 ] NEWSPAPER ARTICLE, Two copies of a two paged, typed account of newspaper article (no date) “Important Discovery of Historical Manuscripts in an Old Sack” made at Clifton Hall, Notts. The find includes Royal writs and grants, seals of Richard 11, Mary and Elizabeth etc in whose courts Sir Gervase Clifton held positions. Refers to letters from the 15th century. [.4] has ink amended 4000 pounds.

[.14] LETTER, to S. A. Hassell, from Rupert Clifton of 'The Homestead, Weir Road, Harvey', Western Australia,10 December 1953. Refers to the receipt of a large portrait of 'Great Grand-Father' from Sophy which is considered very fine. Plans to restore it.

[.15.2] LETTER, Typed copy of letter to S. Hassell from Pitcairn Jones re: Reverend Francis Clifton officiating at a naval shipboard service attended by King George III and his family in September 1789, two pages, undated.

[.16] EXTRACT from 'The annual Register for the year 1789' with typed account of divine service given by Rev. F. Clifton and 'partaking refreshments' on the occasion of a visit from King George 111, the queen and three princesses on the MAGNIFICENT on the quarter-deck. The note is impressed with the Admiralty S. W. crest.

[.17.1-2] LETTER, handwritten to S. A. Hassell (Sophy Agnes Hassell) from Spencer B. Chase, Parish Clerk at St. Mary’s Alverstoke, Gosport. UK on 24 February 1959. Refers to research into the history of the Rev.Francis Clifton. He had been a curate for 26 years at St Marys Alversoke. He lived in the Old Rectory, bombed during the war, now repaired and converted into flats. The costs for this research was 10/6 (to be forwarded to the clerk). Letter written on recycled church paper
