Five carved pearl shell gaming counters.
[.1] Thin, flat, oval, carved pearl shell gaming counter. Central engraved circle with pagoda and trees inside, bordered by carved flower and leaves. Border of small dots around outer edge with pattern of small triangles just inside. Reverse engraved with same border of dots and triangles, with pattern of criss-crossed lines inside with a small cross on each intersecting corner.
[.2] Thin, flat, rectangular, carved pearl shell gaming counter with small indentations around edges. Two small v shaped sections cut 3mm into both right and left sides. Front surface engraved with central circle with zig-zag patterned border, with two birds with outstretched wings in centre. Pattern of lines running from border to edge of circle. Reverse side has central circle with star shaped flower in centre and curved pattern around it. Same pattern on lines running from border to edge of circle as on front.
[.3] Flat, marquise shaped, carved pearl shell gaming counter with serrated edge. On both sides is engraved central circle with zig-zag border, inside which is a man dressed in Chinese peasant clothing(?), carrying a basket in one hand and large leaf in other hand. Shaded sky behind man. Flower and stem on each side of circle. Border of decorative diamonds around outer edge, with inner zig-zag border.
[.4] Thin, flat, circular, carved pearl shell gaming counter with serrated edges. Engraved decorative diamond patterned outer border and zig-zag patterned inner border on front. Stem and flower pattern in centre bordering image of man with hat bending over ground, with tree and building in background. Reverse side features same borders but no central image.
[.5] Thin, flat, fish shaped, carved pearl shell gaming counter. Contoured edges around tail, two top fins, and bottom fin. Scales engraved across back part of body of front side of counter. Engraved circle with two birds with outstretched wings in centre. Scales engraved on body on reverse side.
