TYPEWRITER, ‘IDEAL’, wooden cover

[1] Typewriter, ‘NAUMANN/ Ideal’, metal with wooden base board. Small, tall, square, black metal with silver coloured mechanism and white keys, secured to wooden base board, ‘NAUMANN/ Ideal’, German typewriter. Smooth edged/cornered wooden base board, varnished, with red felt base and three, small, slim brass lock/hinge openings for cover [2]. Typewriter secured to base with four ‘feet’, supporting mechanical body of machine. Intricate inner mechanism, black metal with silver coloured polished levers and parts. Central back panel, at top, reads ‘NAUMANN/ Ideal’ in yellow text. Red and yellow coloured rule across top front of typewriter reads ‘80’ to ‘0’, left to right, in yellow across top of rule and ‘0’-‘40’ in one centimetre? increments marked in red along bottom. German keyboard; white keys with black capital font and black space bar. Two stickers on front right side; round, ‘S & N’ in gold on a black background, rectangular ‘EDWARDS/ FOR/SERVICE/ BUSINESS MACHINES/ 23-2127’, green background with silver text. Lower front of typewriter has faded maker’s label in yellow?; ‘A.-G. Vorm. Seidel & Naumann. Dresden’. Wooden base board discoloured darker in parts that meet cover. Ruler discoloured and maker’s label faded. Silver key surrounds tarnished. Black paint dull in places.
[2] Cover, ‘Ideal’, wooden. Wide, tall, rectangular, curved, thin varnished wood, typewriter cover. Light coloured, grainy, wood, held together at sides with thin, flat head nails. ‘Ideal’, underlined from ‘I’, painted in gold on front centre. Small key lock, missing surround, lower front centre. Small piece of paper tape on upper, proper left side. Seam coming loose at proper right side, at back, wood chipped and damaged. Two small, brass, hinges at lower back, proper left coming away from cover. Inside plain; pencil? mark on inside front, illegible. Two joining lines visible through curved section. Lock mechanism at front. Metal parts tarnished, top of cover scratched, darkly discoloured, with paint/ink marks over cover. Large water mark on varnish on top of flat section.
[3] Key, ‘IDEAL’. Small, rounded, L-shaped, ‘IDEAL’ key for typewriter cover. Circular top, with wide loop. ‘IDEAL’ in raised relief on both sides of loop. Small indentation to lower part of ‘L’. Rounded barrel body of key, hollow. Tarnished.
