1980 FREMANTLE AWARD IN FRAME

H1996.163

Photograph and text framed in gold metal with cream cardboard mount. Photo (colour) shows the restored Fremantle Asylum complex looking across Samson Court (the main courtyard). Text in lower mount window reads: '1980 Fremantle Award/ FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF THE CITY/ Awarded to the City of Fremantle for/ THE FREMANTLE MUSEUM AND ARTS CENTRE (1968-1972).' The text then refers to the success and importance of the restoration project, and names the following contributors: 'Architect and project manager: R. McK. Campbell; Stonemason: John Dundules; Gardener: Alec Ponsford.' The City of Fremantle's crest is overwritten by the text.
The award contains no information as to who bestowed it.
The reverse of the frame has a brown cardboard backing and a wire hanger.
