ARCHEMEDES HAND DRILL
H1995.519
The Archemedes hand drill has a steel bar with wooden cross bar. At one end of the steel bar is a weight and chuck for drill attachment. Threaded through both ends of the cross bar and the other end of the steel bar is a piece of shoe lace. The drill is powered by twisting the lace around the steel bar and creating a continuous flow (clockwise and then anti-clockwise) of movement by pushing the wooden bar down, and releasing.
