Personal reference, hand-written in ink on lined off-white paper with a printed red margin line. Within the top left hand corner of the margin is printed 'To be kept for Department use./ Correspondents must confine letter/ to one subject, writing on one/ side only of the paper, quoting/ file numbers', (no file reference is, however, noted!). The reference, written by Glen J. Sloman, of the Manual Training Centre, State School, Maylands, regarding Richard Charles Young, commends him as of 'unquestionable character' and 'highly respected in the locality in which he lives./ He is a total abstainer and/ thoroughly honest'. Dated 20.6.32.
