POKER WORK PLAQUE

H1993.435

Wooden plaque engraved with script. A leaf and circle pattern is found on the top and bottom of the plaque. The plaque itself has been made into the shape of a picture frame, where a large wooden edge surrounds the actual text. Text on plaque reads 'To Betty/ Next week will be a sad one,/ When we lose our good friend Bett./ And I'm sure we are all going to miss her,/ she is one we'll not forget./ Her ever ready smiles,/ And her effervessence (SIC) laughter,/ These little things we will treasure,/ For many a long day after, / who will tell us smutty yarns, / To brighten up our day./ And who will clear the lightweight bin, / In a most unusual way./ You would class her as a veteran,/ Thirty two years no less,/ We hope she has lots of fun,/ In retirement with her LES./ She is well liked and respected,/ And realy (SIC) shows she cares./ So we all say a fond farewell./ To "Mrs Mills" and Wares./ By/ Kath Johnson.'
