Handwritten in blue on stuck-on flap at top: "A speedy \ answer \ will \ obl \ Will you have \ me to be your Wedded Wife?" Written in black on front of car "Leap Year. \ From a work entitled Courtship, Love and \ Matrimony, printed i the year 1606. \ " Albeit it is nowe (sic) become a part of the \ common lawe (sic) in regard to social \ relations of life, that as often as every \ bessextile year dost return the ladyes have \ the sole privilege, during the time it continueth, of making love unto the \ men, which they doe (sic) either by wordes \ or lookes, as to them it seemeth proper, \ and moreover, no man wi be entitled \ to the benefit of clergy who dothe refuse \ to accept the offers of a ladye, or who \ dothe in any wise treate her proposal \ with slight or contumely." \ N.B. It must be remembered \ that the above is in full force \ the present day." Card mainly white with coloured flowers stuck on at top and bottom. Opens up but no writing inside.
