Glass paperweight with cardboard/paper calendar attached to its underside. The calendar is read through the glass. The date is read across from weekday (name) column to date (number). The weekday column can be slid along using a cardboard button on the back, altering the day/date association to suit the relevant month. Reading through the glass, above and below the calendar readout is text in gold, blue and red ink on a white background: 'BRITISH MADE / ROK / ROOFING / SOLE MANUFRS / D. ANDERSON & SON LTD. / BELFAST & / LONDON' On the back of the calendar, therefore back of paperweight, is black text on yellow: 'D. ANDERSON & SON / in addition to their / "Rok" Roofing also manufacture: / "ROKALBA" / (Asbestos covered "Rok" / "FERRO-ROK" / (A combination of iron and / "Rok" Roofing) / All Classes of Lining and / Sheathing Felts. / "SIDEROSTHEN" / Anti- Corrosive / Paint. / "SIDEROLEUM" / Wood Preservative / Agents for Western Australia - / WATSON BROS., / HENRY STREET, / FREMANTLE' Circular sticker on side reads '...NOVELTIES / Ask / THE LONDON / SANDBLAST / DECORATIVE GLASS / WORKS LTD / 56 GRAYS INN RD, W.C.'. Hand written strip of masking tape on end reads 'CALENDAR / 1920 PRESENTED BY R. DERFAN...'. Number, recently written with pen on adhesive label with object: '04827'. Object collected with others from Telecom. Connection with Telecom or P.M.G. not known. Possibly a supplier.
