VELVET WAISTCOAT

CH1981.428

Black velvet waistcoat with black silk back and white cotton lining with blue stripes. Single-breasted, six buttons, four pockets with braided flaps and one velvet-edged pocket at breast (presumably for pince-nez). Fronts braided - no lapels. Plain silk back. Adjusting strap at back has buckle stamped: 'PARIS' & 'SOLIDE'. At the right front an eye has been sewn presumably for attaching decorations so as not to damage the fabric.
