Carriage parasol with folding stick (wooden) and brass hinge. Cover of soft brown twilled silk with woven floral border in red, green blue and browns on cream. Brown and cream "striped" fringe. turned ivory ferrule and ring with brown silk cord and tassel. Small brass catch with brown silk cord and ivory knob to hold fabric closed. Outer ribs whalebone with ivory tips. Inner ribs metal. Lining plain white silk. Deep fringing popular 1840's-50's, disappears 1860's. Metal ribs from 1850.
