Wooden head with plaster moulded face and shoulders. Painted black eyes, outlined in brown, with painted eyebrows. Moulded nose, painted mouth. Real hair with remains of headdress of net and pink ribbon on wool foundation. Double string of glass beads at neck. May be later period. Fine muslin kerchief at neck, tucked into stomacher and falling in point behind. Edged with silk bobbin lace. Dress of brown-printed linen, partly sewn, partly pinned with hand-made pins. Open bodice, with stomacher formed of pink, silk ribbon. Large gathered cuffs at elbow, with spotted net ruffles. Sack-back gown. Pocket in brown and black printed linen pinned to waist. Right hand side with striped silk pincushion on pink striped ribbon. Blue and white printed petticoat under gown, with 2 white petticoats (or petticoat and chemise under this). Wooden legs with peg joints. Mrs Locke saw a similar doll identified as 'Queen Anne' period in England (1702-14). Dolls of later period usually had glass eyes. Costume probably early-mid 18th century.
