Bluish glaze. Hand-painted "Chinese" pattern of stylised flowers & plants. Predominantly pink, green, orange and black. Small handle on each end, bright blue in shape of cow's head. Mark on base, printed in black, unglazed: "(Royal Arms) \ IMPROVED IRONSTONE CHINA." Unable to trace mark definitely. Similar to that found on some chimney pieces. May be the post-Victorian arms. i.e . after 1837. Ref. Godden, Encyclopaedia, page 418, no.2542. Masons. Nairn no. 58.
