Scalloped edge. 'Japan' pattern, resembling Mason's. In overglaze enamels. Diaper border. Printed mark in underglaze blue 'IRONSTONE \ (crown) \ WARRANTED \ No.5'. Similar to mark for Hicks, Meigh & Johnson, Staffs. pottery who copied Mason's ware. Exact mark not shown in Godden but compare with Encyclopaedia, page 323, no.2023. Exact pattern illustrated for this company Godden, Mason's Patent Ironstone China, plate 111.
