LAPPET OF MECHLIN LACE
CH1979.240
Long lappet, probably from woman's cap, worked downwards. Fine hexagonal mesh - lengthwise sides plaited of four threads, others of two threads. Twisted tag. Fine pattern in cloth-stitch, outlined with a gimp thread. Sections of small flowers, linked with twisted threads. Scalloped edge. Fineness and size of pattern suggest C18th date, possibly mid C18th.
