Addition 15/7/77:
All hand sewn. Panels with net backing. Draw-strings at neck and waist to adjust size. The small bodice and overall length indicate a date of between 1815-1830.
Addition 15. May 1985: LY
a) Long robe of white lawn in classical early-mid 19th C: V-shape panels of Ayrshire work with needlepoint fillings, edged with embroidered scalloped ruffle on bodice and skirt; hem and short sleeves embroidered and scalloped; narrow waistband embroidered with knots; closes with draw-strings at back neck and waist; all hand sewn.
b) Petticoat of dense lawn; princess style with French seams; neck and sleeves trimmed with handmade Val. lace; hem trimmed with broader band of handmade Val. lace; 2 machine-sewn tucks at hem.
