PINCE-NEZ SPECTACLES CASE

a) Pince nez: rimless pince nez with ear clip on a fine gold chain which is attached to a small hole drilled through the lens. The gold coloured metal bridge is positioned centrally, the nosepads fashioned from wire.
Style known as a finger piece mount, or 'Fitsu'. It had an advantage ove the bow spring clip as it was more suitable for astigmatic lenses and also for coorect centring of spherical lenses. (Orr p. 14).

marly writes that the US 'Fitzu' became available in Europe in 1915 (Marly p. 15).
