Mei: mumei. Tang marked in black (in Japanese and Arabic numerals): 106. This is repeated with the same Arabic numerals punched, together with the circle and anchor stamp
Nagasa: 64.0 cm
Sori: 1.1 cm, torii
Sugata: shinogi tsukuri, iori mune
Nakago: 21.0 cm, one mekugi ana, ubu
Kissaki: chu
Hada: muhada
Hamon: suguba with some notare
Date: c. 1940s
This blade is typical of those mass-produced in stainless steel for navy issue during World War II. The anchor in a circle denotes the Toyokawa naval arsenal. The numerals are assembly numbers.

Saya: polished black same over wood, with gilded brass fittings. Ishi dzuki, shibabiki, ashi and kuchi gane decorated with cherry blossom motif
Tsuka: fine grain same bound with brown cotton
Fuchi/kabuto gane: en suite with scabbard
Tsuka ai: en suite
Tsuba: plain iron, of naga-maru-gata shape, stamped with Arabic numeral: 106. Dimensions: 6.5 x 8.0 x 0.3 cm
Overall length: 95.5 cm
These are standard World War II naval officer’s mounts.
