BODICE, WAISTCOAT, UNDERSLEEVES & PEPLUM

(a) Bodice: Bolero shaped, of purple silk, with short basque. Wide sleeves, 3/4 length. Fully lined with black silk. Trimmed with velvet ribbon and black lace. Round neck. Hook and eye fastening at front. Armhole piped. Machine sewn, hand finished.
(b) Waistcoat: V-shaped front. Satin fronts, unbleached cotton back. Fastens down front with seven glass buttons and hook & eye at top. Four bones in front darts. Machine sewn, hand-finished.
(c) Undersleeves: self-fabric (purple) with upper band of unbleached cotton. Slightly gathered into cuff. Fastens with hook & eye. Trimmed with velvet ribbon.
(d) Peplum: An apron-shaped piece of self-fabric trimmed with black lace and velvet ribbon. Two buttons at top. Sits over bustle. See also CH82.135.
