PAIR OF STOCKINGS - A & B

Pair of ladies stockings for use with suspenders or elastic garters. Stretch tops and feet of knitted cotton. Main part of stocking is a knitted silk fabric of opaque appearance with a silky/ shiny finish. Coloured a light golden beige with a dark purple stripe around the very tops. These stockings were originally sent to the Conservation Department by a former curator as unwanted. They were returned to the History Department who decided to keep them for possible display purposes. Very faint red stamp on toe of 'B' reads 'MADE ... / SILK & COTTON / IN U.S.A.'
