British War Medal, 1914-1920, silver. Rim stamped ‘3915 PTE. M. HARWOOD. 16 BN. A.I.F.’ Obverse bears effigy of King George V. Reverse bears image of St George on horseback with eagle shield of the Central Powers, skull and crossbones underfoot. Above is risen sun. Horizontal metal bar surmounted a top. Long coloured ribbon looped through metal bar. Ribbon has been cut and displays a wide central vertical strip of orange, flanked by narrow black and white stripes, and outer vertical border of royal blue.
