POSTCARD, World War 1

Small postcard. White background with illustration of man in soldier's uniform with moustache kissing the cheek of a smiling woman in white hat and blue dress with red collar. Printed in brown at the bottom of the card, " "All the nice Girls/Love a Soldier!" ". Printed in brown near the soldier is artist's name "C.T. HOWARD". Back of postcard has usual instructions "STAMP HERE", "THIS SIDE FOR CORRESPONDENCE" etc. Printed along the side in small green lettering "Copyright. Printed and Published by J. Salmon, Sevenoaks, England.". Card has been written on in purple pencil. Message is as follows:
"My Dearest Lida/I am sending along a few/postcards of King's Heath Birmingham/I am in in [sic] the hospital here. I also/send a few others to make you smile/I have been in England since Xmas/But I do not know how long it will be/before I get out/How ever I hope all are well and/Happy" Card is not signed by writer. (from handwriting, probably John ('Jack') E Bonney, 16th Battalion AIF)
