FLASH METER
H1986.467
Flashmeter, similar in principle to the 'Optimus Magnesium Ribbon Lamp' of 1889, supplied by Perken, Son and Rayment. Consists of a flat circular tin, containing a reel of ribbon which is fed out manually. The ribbon is held at right angles to the case and lit with a match. The pictures made by the light of burning magnesium ribbon, were not flash pictures; the ribbon burnt slowly with an intense white light. Flashmeter has paper cover. See Cameras, Coe, B, 1978 : pp 225 - 232
