A copper Monneron token worth 5 sols.
The obverse features an image of Hercules seated on the skin of the Nemean lion with his club by his side. Behind him is the base of a pillar and before him is the sea bearing five tiny sailing ships. He is unsuccessfully attempting to break a fasces over his knee – a symbolic act demonstrating strength in unity. In the exergue below him is the date “L’AN IV DE LA LIBERTÉ.”.
The reverse features the lettering 'REVOLUTION FRANCAISE 1792' in an outer border, with 'MEDAILLE/ QUI SE VEND/ CINQ-SOLS/ A PARISCHEZ/ MONNERON/ [PATENTE]'
