Certificate reads; 'Serial No. 71793/ COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA/ Defence Act 1903-1939/ Certificate of Exemption from Service in Citzen Forces'. 'This is to Certify F.W. Cross/ of Marybrook/ who is described herunder, is exempt from service in the Citizen Forces during the present war, on the ground that-/ he is in a reserved occcupation'.
