Large cylindrical brass sacchrometer on matching brass tripod stand. 2 detachable parts.
Sacchrometer – brass cylinder with small cylinder fixed inside, outer cylinder has ‘SOLE MAKER/ JOSEPH LONG/ LONDON’ engraved. Both extend through a metal plate which forms the lid of a container fixed to the base. Adjacent o cylinder is glass gauge and metal ruler marked 0-80. Glass extends through lid of container, ruler doesn’t. ‘SPECIFIC GRAVITY’ engraved in top of ruler. ‘MANLEY’S/ PATENT/ No. 20165’ engraved in top of frame holding glass and ruler.
Base – tripod legs fixed to circular bsae, pierced with holes around rim, tapered container held in middle.
