First World War Australian Imperial Force (AIF) Soldier’s Pay Book, postcard-size, starched fabric and paper. Handwritten in black pen on front: ‘HARWOOD M/ 3195/ 11th Battl’. Typed below in black lettering: ‘Soldier’s Pay Book/ FOR USE ON/ Active Service’. Outer card of book covered in starched mustard fabric, significantly stained and slightly fraying. Interior paper pages provide instructions on use of book to soldier, identifying information for soldier Matthew Harwood, details of cash payments made to Matthew Harwood, brief Will which has not been filled out. ‘CANCELLED’ stamped on each interior page and back of book. Small hole on right edge of book.
